The reality of cancer in the UK is sobering. It is a challenge that requires more than just medical intervention; it requires a community of support.

The statistics surrounding cancer in the UK don’t make for comfortable reading. Almost 3.5 million people are living with cancer in the UK. That number is rising, and by 2030, this figure will rise to 4 million.¹

Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a story. All of us here, and everyone we know, either has direct personal experience of cancer or knows someone who has been affected. Macmillan is the light in the corner for those navigating their darkest days.

Emotional Support: Whether it’s through their Macmillan Buddies service for a weekly chat, professional counselling, or their Online Community of over 80,000 members, they ensure no one feels isolated.
Practical And Physical Help: From Macmillan Nurses providing specialist care to physiotherapists and dietitians helping patients manage side effects and regain independence at home.
Financial Guidance: Cancer often brings unexpected costs. Macmillan provides specialist money advisers, a benefits calculator, and Macmillan Grants to help families manage bills and the cost of living during treatment.
Supporting the Healthcare Workforce: They provide the cancer workforce with the training, tools, and resources they need to deliver the best possible care.
Advocacy And Research: Macmillan campaigns for better cancer policies and conducts vital research to understand patients' needs, ensuring the UK's healthcare system works for everyone.

Matt’s Mighty Challenge: 26.2 Miles For Macmillan

We don’t just talk about support; we lace up our boots and get involved. Our very own adviser, Matt, is taking his commitment to the next level by participating in the Peak District Mighty Hike on 18 July 2026.

Matt will be trekking 26.2 miles – a full marathon distance – across challenging terrain to raise vital funds for the charity. It’s a gruelling physical test, but it’s nothing compared to the hurdles faced by those living with cancer every day. We are incredibly proud of his dedication to the cause.
